TÜBİTAK'tan yapılan yazılı açıklamaya göre, Sanayi ve Teknoloji Bakanlığı, Gençlik ve Spor Bakanlığı, TÜBİTAK ile Türkiye Teknoloji Takımı Vakfı iş birliğiyle başlatılan DENEYAP Türkiye Teknoloji Atölyeleri için 42 ilde 50 atölye için sınav yapıldı, sınava 17 bin öğrenci katıldı.
İkinci aşama sınavı, Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Edirne, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Hakkari, İzmir, Konya, Manisa, Muğla, Trabzon, Amasya, Artvin, Ardahan, Bartın, Bayburt, Bilecik, Bitlis, Bolu, Burdur, Çankırı, Düzce, Gümüşhane, Iğdır, İstanbul, Kahramanmaraş, Karabük, Kırklareli, Kırşehir, Mersin, Muş, Nevşehir, Niğde, Osmaniye, Siirt, Sinop, Şanlıurfa, Tunceli, Uşak, Yalova, Zonguldak'ta gerçekleştirildi.
Sınava 11 bin ortaokul, 6 bin lise seviyesinde öğrenci katıldı. Sınav sonrasında 4 bin 'si ortaokul, 2 bin 'ü lise olmak üzere toplamda 6 bin öğrenci kabul edilecek.
Uygulama sınavı için öğrencilerden, Türkiye'nin yüksek teknoloji ürünlerinin ihracatını yapacak çevre dostu elektrikli yük gemisi tasarlamaları ve görev olarak doğrusal bir rota izleyerek yük taşımaları istendi.
Öğrencilerin tasarım ve sunum becerileri, geminin sağlamlığı, yüke dayanıklılığı ve parkuru tamamlama becerisi ölçüldü.
