In the competitive environment of the 21st century, organizations aim to benefit from their members at a maximum level to survive. Organizations which are well aware of the fact that members will be beneficent when satisfied spiritually and economically make use of some factors helping them feel satisfied. For employees, career advancement is one of the most important factors in terms of professional satisfaction. As employees advance in career stages, they both make more money and satisfy spiritually. Career opportunities provided for employees in business organizations may be seen in some state employee positions, however there are no such opportunities for professional advancement and pursuing a career in teaching profession. As there are no such advancement opportunities in teachers' professions, it may be stated here that teachers do not endeavor to improve themselves and adopt a stable position in their professions the purpose of the current study was to determine solutions to the problems regarding the career advancement system proposed by teachers and school administrators working in Şehitkamil and Şahinbey districts of Gaziantep province. Data for the current study were collected via literature review and face-to-face interview technique. In development of the interview protocol, the problems related to the career advancement system determined in the 2011 national teacher workshop and explanations by Ministry of National Education about a new career stages were examined, and an interview form/protocol was constructed. The questions were evaluated by two field specialists who were university lecturers. Furthermore, two Turkish Language and Literature teachers examined the questions in terms of its linguistic features. After this, some statements were re-evaluated and typed. The 11 questions in the interview protocol were posed to the participants, and the data were analyzed using content analysis method. According to some results, it was stated by the teachers that questions about content knowledge must be asked in the career advancement exam, responsibilities must be given in accordance with their career step, the advantages must be granted to teachers having a master or doctorate degree in the course of the promotion advancement phases, there should not be quota in number of the titles.

This research is done by using general scanning model to define the effects whichteaching career steps? application have on the teachers? motivation.205 teachers from primary schools in Tekirdağ are the samples of this research.Personal information form and a questionnaire which contains 30 question aboutstance of teacher against the teaching career steps are developed by researcher andsupervisor with the help of a professional.Data are analyzed with the help of ?SPSS For Windows? by the calculations offrequencies (n), percent (%), mean (X), standard deviation (Ss), independent sample ttest, one way variance analysis (ANOVA) and Tukey?s test58 percent of applicants are female; 50.7 percent of applicants are between the age of26 and 35; 77.1 percent of applicants are graduated from university; 53.2 percent areelementary school teachers; 9.3 percent are managers; 69.8 percent are public schoolteachers. Most of the teachers think that application of teaching career steps is usefulfor schooling themselves. More than half of the teachers think that the application ofcareer steps effects the motivation and communication between teacher negatively.The opinions of the teacher do not depend on variables like gender, graduation,branch, being a manager or not. Elderly teachers think that these kinds ofapplications cause the communication problems between teachers. Private schoolteachers think more positively than public school teachers about its effect onschooling.
