Scope of the project includes approximately 95 km long main high way and following connection roads, viaducts, highway bridges and tunnels and 3rd Bosphorus Bridge.

Um den Verkehr in der 15 Millionen Metropole Istanbul zu entlasten wird im Norden der Stadt eine neue Brücke über den Bosporus gebaut. Die Yavuz Sultan Selim Brücke soll in diesem Sommer fertig gestellt und eröffnet werden.

Laut Aussagen vom türkischen Ministerpräsident Ahmet Davutoglu sind knapp 90 Prozent der Arbeiten bereits abgeschlossen. Die letzten Arbeiten an der Brücke und der Bau der Zugangsstrassen sollen in den nächsten Monaten erledigt werden.

Ahmet Davutoglu hatte zusammen mit dem türkischen Verkehrsminister Binali Yildirim den Fortschritt der Bauarbeiten der dritten Brücke inspiziert. Die neue Hängebrücke werde den Istanbuler Verkehr deutlich entlasten, sagte Davutoglu.

Mit einer Fahrbahnbreite von 59 Metern ist die Yavuz Sultan Selim Brücke einer der breitesten Brücken der Welt. Zudem zählt die neue Bosporusbrücke mit einer Konstruktionshöhe von Metern zu den höchsten der Welt.

Die Brücke soll die von Edirne kommende Autobahn O-3/E 80 mit der nach Ankara gehenden Autobahn O-4 /E 80 verbinden. Außerdem verfügt die Brücke in der Mitte über eine zweigleisige Eisenbahnstrecke für Hochgeschwindigkeitszüge.

Die beiden und gebauten alten Bosporusbrücken sollen nach der Fertigstellung der neuen Brücke deutlich entlastet werden. Die Yavuz Sultan Selim Brücke soll auch als direkte Anbindung des geplanten neuen Mega-Flughafens von Istanbul dienen.
